Cool, would be nice to have another .30 about! :)

To be honest, I'm not amazing with tools, so if I can do it you'll be able to :)

Looking good. What sort of feed do these .30 cals have? Is it a gravity feed (like TOP use on their M60's), or is it fed from a motorised box mag?

Mixture.

You pour the BBs in the top, it filters down to a well where an autowinder sends the BBs through a hose into a P90 hop unit

Oh I see. So, I assume it uses a P90 gearbox as well then?

Cool. Thanks for that. I may have a crack at building one sometime (or a maxim), so any info is helpful.

Yeah, they're quite versatile in the way they can be mounted as well. I've seen pictures of a "tree mount" for the .30 cal! If you don't mind, I'd like to have a look at yours in December?

You mean, as we over run your positions? :ghey-fight:

I don't think I'll see much of it in game tbh, I'll be having a heart attack somewhere from carrying my MG42 around.

Do you think you could fit an AK74 internals inside it? Forgetting about the mag of course.

ak's no good for the 30 cals, the most common are p90 or m14 but im going the m249 way, alot easier just slides in,just need the inner barrel and hop unit, gearbox, electronic switch,so simple to do.

Yeah, you have to think about the AK's motor is angled down, the actual box of the .30cal aint that big, just about fits a P90 box in and like e-company said an M249 1.

@ e-company that does look pretty sweet, what are you making it out of?

Its all metal,i find working with steel alot easy, when you have the tools, took me about 2 weeks to do so far,i made templates out of mdf first then put it on to steel,so if i want to i can make more in the future, who knows i might do them as kits, all you have to do is get a m249,the 30 cal is all bolts and welded, and i have done it so you can change the spring in 5 mins roughly, and the ammo box holds the bb's and battery, the wire and feed tube is under the ammo belt and all folds back in the ammo box when your not useing it,and the 30 cal goes on my packboard.

Yeh I understand what you mean, the gearbox in the handle isn't the right shape for the 30. tis a bugger though because I reckon an AK in one of them would be better for ROF & FPS.

I have asked uncle dave to upgrade mine, ROF is a battery issue mate as well as a gearbox.

Only snag is having the ammo and battery in the ammo box is that you have to be real careful carting the gun around, and the ammo box would have to be right next to the gun all the time. I had thought about doing this, but it makes the gun very static. (part of the reason why I have adopted the A6 idea.)
